The 80/20, aka the Pareto Principle, suggests that 20% of any activity will produce 80% of the results. Life & Business Strategist Tony Robbins once mentioned that being successful in life is 80% psychology and only 20% skill. Thus, you can’t succeed in anything if you don’t have the right mindset and determination.

We have spoken to a few entrepreneurs and here are a few secrets they shared with us.

1. Turn Ideas Into Realities

If you have an idea or a passion for something, just go for it and take action. At the end of the day, you will regret the things you haven’t tried. A lot of people are stuck in the “This is not going to work because…” mentality. Indecisiveness and lack of action won’t take you anywhere. Don’t complain, but DO. You only have this one life, so make it count.

2. Don’t Let the Fear of Failure or Opinions of Others Stop You from Pursuing Your Dreams.

With this kind of attitude you are inclined to self-sabotage because fear kills dreams. Mistakes are your way up the ladder of success and it can’t be achieved without setbacks. Losing is really how we learn the most valuable lessons. It can feel very intimidating to put projects into reality but once you start, you see how many doors can open.

3. Practice Gratitude.

Have you heard of Roosevelt’s quote “Comparison is the thief of joy”? If we want to improve, we tend to compare our careers and lives with those people who seem to be better than we are. Those kinds of comparisons would without a doubt get us down. Instead, just focus on yourself and all the great things you already have and be grateful for that – even for the little things that happen to you. Replace those negative thoughts with thoughts that emphasize your self-worth.

4. Choose Happiness and Mental Peace over Money.

A lot of good things can happen when you focus on your peace of mind and happiness than just primarily on the money aspect. Don’t get this wrong, most of us don’t have the financial luxury to just do whatever we want and not worry about money. But just because money is needed, doesn’t mean we have to be consumed by it. Try to be more aware of what makes you happy and what you are good at and bring that together. If you end up doing what you love for work, you are definitely way better off than someone who only does his or her job for the cash.

5. Surround Yourself With People who Uplift You.

Who you surround yourself with and what you consume matters. Try to eliminate as much negativity as possible and be with people who spread optimism, kindness and love.
