Anja’s Story – The Host of buhay abroad

Hey guys! My name is Anja-Vanessa Peter and I’m a Filipina-German who was raised in Germany. I moved to the Philippines in 2014 and joined a national beauty pageant called “Binibining Pilipinas” a year later where I made it to the top 15. What started off as a two month vacation turned into an almost six-year journey in Manila working as a fashion & commercial model, events host and voice talent for TV & radio commercials. I left the Philippines in February 2020. Currently, I’m working as a model here in Germany and have worked for brands like Adidas, Birkenstock, Cupra, McDonald’s, Nestlé, Olay, Porsche etc.

Born in Saudi-Arabia, I used to be a professional tennis player. I represented the Philippines at the SEA Games and Fed Cup back in 2005 and played college tennis during my Freshman year at the University of Hawai’i at Manoa. Although you can consider me as a retired professional athlete, I still enjoy working out regularly and can’t imagine a life without some exercise. During my stay in the Philippines, I occasionally analyzed the Grand Slam tournaments as a tennis analyst for CNN Philippines.

Other than my love for fashion and fitness, I enjoy cooking and baking. My terrible sweet tooth is probably another reason why I do workout on a regular basis, too! 🙂 Also, I love to travel and to discover new places.
The modeling industry is extremely competitive and there’ll be ups and downs in every model’s career. Thus, you need to be disciplined, patient and confident about yourself. One of the important things I have learned in modeling is to never give up on something that you are truly passionate about. Don’t be afraid to step out of your comfort zone to become a better version of yourself. And last but not least, stay kind and humble and appreciate all the blessings you’ve received so far.
